On Saturday, December 11, 2021,
Starting at 5:30 PM,
the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park will be starting the Christmas Season with an immersion experience based on Charles Dickens' tale
A Christmas Carol.
We will only be able to accommodate 30 people seated in the Fellowship Hall, so please be sure to sign up early.
The ZOOM participants are not included in the 30 seats.

We shall be using a token to determine the "Ghost of Christmas Present,"
at whose feast this cake makes its appearance in the book.
Our twelfth-day cake will be a bit of a hybrid. Tastes have changed with the passage of time, means of distribution, preservation, and refinement technology. We no longer generally find ingredients like treacle or candied orange peel to be sweet treats. So our adaptation of the twelfth-day cake will be a blond confection.
The cost is a donation.
(suggested to be about $15.00 per person.
Please let me know if you would be willing to sponsor somebody who cannot afford to come.
Any residual funds will be donated to missions to go to one of their Christmas relief programs.)
The evening will be filled with period music, an opportunity to share in a dance of Dickens' day, the Sir Roger De Coverley, Fred's parlor games, good conversation, and great fun.

We require reservations because the nature of the dinner means that we have to make up individual tables with special foods and items.
ZOOM Reservation Form:
ZOOM attendance is free. Once you submit the below information, I will send you the connection information for ZOOM. I do not know if the channel will be monitored, so please be on your best behavior.
The camera and projection will be "on the floor" for folks to interact with during the gathering and time of appetizers. During the dinner and for the rest of the evening, the camera and screen will be "seated" at a table, and everyone on Zoom will be a part of that table. Speakers will be "seated" as well, and audio will not be going through the main sound system. We are discussing a meal take-out option.
